Hannah uses the three dimensional nature of jewellery alongside colour and kinetic elements to draw the wearer into further interaction with the piece. Inspired by engineering and the properties of the materials, Hannah uses Silver, Light Gathering Acrylics and gemstones to construct tactile, wearable jewellery. Her use of new technologies such as CAD design and rapid manufacturing help Hannah create her unique aesthetic but she enjoys the construction element of using traditional hand techniques to perfect her pieces.
The Acrylic Bar range has been designed specifically to show case the intense colours of the Light Gathering rod. The settings were designed to allow as much light to fall on the rod as possible while maintaining the strength and durability required for repeated wear.
Hannah graduated from Loughborough University’s School of Art and Design in 2006 with a First Class BA in 3D Design, Silversmithing and Jewellery. She then completed the Prince’s Trust Enterprise Programme and started Hannah Jewellery Designs before completing the Design Space incubation scheme in 2011. She now works from a shared studio in the heart of Birmingham’s famous Jewellery Quarter |
