Essentially my work addresses the concept of memory. Textures and materials are my influence and inspiration. Found objects, materials and fabrics harbour the tactile and evocative qualities that I seek to draw out, acting as backdrops for vehicles of reminiscence. This reappropriation dovetails with my desire to, salvage materials, but also histories, stones and skills, clarifying aspects of conservation and celebration. Most photographic images that I use are from my own family yet the similarities of life events and historical placement highlight how, although each of us is individual, we still recognise the similarities of ancestry and our place within it. |
