Marisa Arna became known for her fine thrown porcelain soon
after she moved her studio from her native Greece in 1997.
Her porcelain was sold at places such as the Conran Shop in
the UK and overseas, the V&A shop, galleries, and at Chelsea
Craft Fair and Origin.
- Since 2007 she has been
working exclusively as a jeweller. All of Marisa’s jewellery
is heavily textured either by scratching deeply the surface
of the jewellery. At other times she rolls the silver with
materials, such as fabric, to give it a permanently
patterned surface, and then distresses it further. To show
off the variety of textures Marisa polishes the edges and
the all-important details in a design, and then often
highlights it further by the use of textured 18ct gold,
oxidation or the addition of gemstones.
-
- Marisa likes to combine several simple
geometrical patterns, which sometimes make up organic forms. These
striking shapes, together with interesting textures, create tactile
mini-sculptures which look just as interesting on their own as they do
when they are being worn.
Marisa’s work is all hand made. It includes a large number of one-off
pieces and several ranges which, when combined, make unique collections.
